Restaurant: Filippis Pizza Grotto, San Diego

Little Italy began taking shape in the 1920's, as Italian fishermen and their families began settling there to be close to the city's tuna industry. It was even known as the "tuna capital" of the entire west coast, and the 6,000 immigrant families populating Little Italy were a huge reason why. This place is a gem. It wasn’t just about the food but there were art galleries, trendy shops, and...great food.
